Haul & Brand Review: Terre Mere Cosmetics

When I was glancing at Hautelook’s featured beauty brands a few weeks ago, I was intrigued when I saw that Terre Mere, a Logical Harmony approved cruelty-free and 100% vegan brand was on sale, and I couldn’t resist placing an order. (If you’re reading this the day I’m posting it on March 23rd, Terre Mere is back on Hautelook at the moment! If you missed it, be sure to check back, because Terre Mere seems to go on sale about once month or so.)

I had never heard of Terre Mere before, and you guys probably know I love testing out a relatively unheard-of makeup line, especially when it is all vegan in addition to being cruelty-free!

Terre Mere is very much a high-end, luxury brand, and as you can see on their website they carry skincare products as well as a line of mineral makeup, with prices ranging from $20 for a single eyeshadow to a $200 eye cream. With such steep prices, I would never be able to justify purchasing these products at their full prices, but luckily on Hautelook their products were discounted by as much as 86%!

IMG_4031.JPGThe first thing I chose to pick up was a set of four of their loose mineral eyeshadows in the set called “Sand Shadows Nude.” These shadows are all shimmery and the set includes (swatched from left to right) a warm, rosy pink (“Sunstone”); a reddish burgundy-brown (“Agate”), a champagne (“White Moonstone”), and a mauve-taupe shade (“Bronze Moonstone”).  While this set would normally cost $103.80, Hautelook’s 86% off discount allowed me to snatch them for $15, which is even less than the cost of just one of their loose shadows on their website. This set was actually accompanied by a flat shader brush – I don’t think this brush is really anything special, but it was nice of them to include it with the set.

While these shades swatch beautifully and are nicely pigmented, I most definitely do not think they would be worth over a hundred dollars, as I don’t think they are any better quality-wise than many drugstore eyeshadows that I have tried. But if you don’t mind loose powder shadows and you see a set of these on Hautelook, I wouldn’t discourage you from giving them a try.

TIMG_4028he other item I picked up was their Matte Lipstick in Napa Valley, which I scored for $12 (normally costing $39, this was 69% off). It’s always hard to tell how suitable a shade is just based on the swatch online, but I am absolutely in LOVE with this shade, and I’m so glad this was the one I picked. I would describe the color as a juicy berry-red, and it’s bold while also being just wearable enough that I actually feel comfortable wearing it on a semi-regular basis. Being a matte lipstick, it still goes on IMG_4043feeling super creamy while having great staying power. If you decide to pick up just one Terre Mere product, make sure it is one of their lipsticks- I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Now that I’ve tried a couple of Terre Mere’s products, I am tempted to go back for more – and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out on Hautelook for future sales!

Have you tried anything from Terre Mere before? Did you think it was worth the price tag?
